Opposites will attract when the second-seeded Oregon Ducks kickoff against the fourth-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes in the first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship game tonight. Matt Elam Womens Jersey . The winner of this matchup will become the least questioned national champion in the history of NCAA football and first to win after a four-team playoff. The National Championship had previously been decided between two teams with the highest BCS ranking. You can catch the game live on TSN1, TSN3, TSN4, TSN5, TSN GO and the TSN Radio Network, beginning with the pregame show underway now. You can also catch bonus Spider Cam and Command Centre cameras on TSN GO beginning at 8:30pm et/5:30pm pt. Command Centre will provide enhanced statistics utilizing a split screen application with live game action and immediate replays of every play. On one side of the field will be the Ducks, a team led by college football’s best player in 2014, quarterback Marcus Mariota, and in search of their first national title. Standing in their way is Ohio State, winners of four previous national titles, but entering this year’s championship behind a quarterback starting just his third-career game. Oregon defeated 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston and the Florida State Seminoles 59-20 on New Year’s Day to set up their date in the final, while Ohio State recovered from a 21-6 second-quarter deficit to stun the top-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide 42-35 in the Sugar Bowl. With their Sugar Bowl win, the Buckeyes silenced their many doubters and proved they deserved to be in the inaugural playoff. Alabama proved to be just the latest obstacle in the unlikely championship run for the Big Ten champions. The Buckeyes, who entered the year as a favourite to reach the playoff, seemed to have their hopes diminished with the loss of starting quarterback Braxton Miller to a shoulder injury prior to the season. However, redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett emerged as a star in Urban Meyer’s offence and managed to keep the Buckeyes in contention for a national title. Barrett struggled in Ohio State’s lone loss of the season – 35-21 to unranked Virginia Tech – but recovered to march the Buckeyes from their 22nd-ranking after the loss to sixth entering the final week of the regular season. Against Michigan in that final week, Barrrett ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as he continued to electrify fans with his play. That is, until disaster struck Ohio State again. While scrambling in the third quarter, Barrett suffered a broken ankle, ending his breakout season. Third-string quarterback Cardale Jones entered in his place and the Buckeyes used a run-heavy approach to close out the Wolverines. Like Barrett, Jones also presents a rushing risk for defences. Jones has averaged 5.1 yards per carry on 51 runs this season. He has yet to rush for a touchdown. Jones made his first career start one week later in the Big Ten Championship Game against Wisconsin and threw three touchdowns as the Buckeyes won in a 59-0 rout. Jones had 257 yards through the air and received help from running back Ezekiel Elliott, who rushed for 220 yards as the Buckeyes’ win allowed them to jump past TCU for the fourth, and final, playoff spot. Jones’s second career start proved to be a tougher matchup against the Crimson Tide, but the redshirt sophomore passed for 243 yards with a touchdown and interception as the Buckeyes earned the upset win. Elliott again played a key role, adding a Sugar Bowl-record 230 yards rushing with two touchdowns. In his third time out, Jones will be in the spotlight once again as Ohio State tries for their fifth National Championship in school history. Meyer will look to give Jones as much help as possible as he looks for his first title since joining Ohio State in 2012, but neither Jones nor Elliott figures to have an easy matchup against the Ducks defence. Oregon has held opponents to 20 points or fewer in four-straight contests. For Oregon, there are no questions at quarterback with Heisman winner Mariota under centre. The redshirt junior has thrown for over 4,100 yards with 40 touchdowns this season, while adding another 15 scores on the ground. Mariota, the unquestioned MVP and leader of Oregon, threw for over 300 yards against Florida State and added three total touchdowns to make up for throwing just his third interception of the year in the win over the defending champions of a year ago. Mariota’s dual-threat ability caused headaches for opposing defences throughout the season, while he compiled over 700 yards on the ground. Not surprisingly, Oregon’s lone loss came as Mariota put up his lowest yardage total of the year. Mariota will be without two of his top receivers in the national championship in Darren Carrington and Devon Allen. Carrington has been suspended for a failed drug test, while Allen suffered a knee injury in the Rose Bowl. In early October, Arizona stunned the Ducks with an upset 31-24 victory, while holding Mariota to just one rushing yard on nine tries. Playing behind three backups in his offensive line, Mariota was unable to lead a game-tying drive after Arizona took the lead with just under three minutes left. With the loss, the Ducks dropped from second to 12th in the AP rankings. Yet, Oregon recovered to reel off eight-straight wins to enter the College Football Playoff as the second seed. That run included a 51-13 rout of Arizona in the Pac-12 Championship Game as Mariota put the final touch on his Heisman year with a five-touchdown performance. Mariota, the likely top pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, will now try to become the seventh Heisman winner since 1996 - and second straight - to win the national championship in his trophy season. He will also be looking to – likely – end his Oregon career with his 36th win as the school’s starter. Mariota has lost just four games in three seasons with the Ducks. Trying to make his history of his own with Ohio State, will be Meyer. The former University of Florida head coach is looking to become the second coach in history to win a National Championship with two separate schools. In that category, Meyer is looking to join Alabama head coach Nick Saban, who he defeated in the Sugar Bowl. Saban won the National Championship with LSU before winning three more titles with Alabama. Meyer coached the Gators to national titles in both 2006 and 2008. He debuted with Ohio State in 2012. Not surprisingly given the quarterback situation of each team, Oregon enters this matchup as six-point favourites. Being underdogs is, of course, a trend of late for the Buckeyes, who will look for their third-straight upset win with Jones at quarterback. The two schools have met on eight previous occasions with Ohio State sweeping the series to date. Breshad Perriman Jersey . Toledo compiled an 8-4 record during the regular season, including a 7-1 mark in Mid-American Conference play. The Rockets won the final two games of the regular season, and are making their second appearance in the GoDaddy Bowl (it was known as the GMAC Bowl back in 2005, though). Toledo is 9-4 all-time in bowl games. Arkansas State, of the Sun Belt Conference, nearly backed into the postseason, but saved itself from a three-game losing streak to end the season with a win over New Mexico State. The Red Wolves have made it to an unprecedented four consecutive GoDaddy Bowls, going 2-1 in their previous three trips to the bowl that features a MAC and Sun Belt school. The GoDaddy Bowl marks the third time in history Toledo and Arkansas State will meet on the football field. The Rockets own a 2-0 all-time lead over the Red Wolves, with victories coming during the 1990 and 1992 seasons in Toledo. Toledo needed a few things to go right in the final week of the regular season for the Ohio-based program to make it to the MAC championship game. But the Rockets were left on the outside looking in when it came to vying for a conference championship. Now theyll turn to their focus on trying to make it 3-0 against ASU all-time. Toledo averaged 247.3 rushing ypg as a unit this season, as sophomore back Kareem Hunt (173 carries, 1,360 yards, 11 touchdowns) led the way for the ground game despite missing three contests due to injury. Terry Swanson (six rushing touchdowns) is also a dangerous threat. Perhaps the Rockets are wondering what could have been, had regular starting quarterback Phillip Ely not been lost to an ACL tear two games into the season. However, backup Logan Woodside performed admirably in Elys absence this season, as Woodside passed for 2,087 yards and 19 touchdowns against just seven interceptions, helping the Rockets to average 34.4 ppg. Alonzo Russell (team-best eight touchdown receptions) and Corey Jones (team- best 66 catches and 812 yards) are the top two targets in the passing game for Woodside. Both receivers are averaging over 60 ypg through the air. Big receiver Justin Olack is third on the team with 19 receptions for 287 yards and four touchdowns. The Rockets won games this season thanks to a strong offense, but lost games because of a defense that seemed to struggle from time to time to slow opponents down. Toledo gave up 29.3 ppg this season and over 400 total yards of offense each game. It was especially troublesome against the pass, as Toledo allowed 282.4 passing ypg and 32 passing scores this season. Linebacker Junior Sylvestre led the team in tackles, registering 94 stops with 9.5 tackles for loss, five pass breakups and four quarterback hurries. He and Trent Voss (11 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks) will be looking to keep Arkansas States run game at bay, while Christian Dukes (10 pass breakups) and cornnerback Jordan Haden (three interceptions) will be in charge of containing the Red Wolves pass attack. Lorenzo Taliaferro Ravens Jersey. . Haden is questionable to play however, with an undisclosed listed injury. We are honored to be chosen to play in the GoDaddy Bowl and looking forward to playing a very good Arkansas State team, said Toledo coach Matt Campbell. If the hospitality we received today is any indication, we are going to have a terrific bowl experience when we travel back here. Toledo will have its hands full trying to contain athletic signal caller Fredi Knighten for Arkansas State. The quarterback did it all in 2014, passing for a team-leading 2,874 yards and 19 touchdowns (against just seven interceptions), and added 11 rushing touchdowns with 775 yards on the ground. Knighten alone accounted for 239.5 passing ypg and 64.6 rushing ypg. He led the Red Wolves to 36.1 ppg this season, which included a 68-point outburst in the teams most recent clash against New Mexico State. Like the Rockets, Arkansas State finds itself relying heavily on the run game. The Red Wolves enter the GoDaddy Bowl averaging 229.0 rushing ypg with 35 of their touchdowns this season scored on the ground. Michael Gordon accounted for the good chunk of that total, rushing for 1,064 yards and 13 touchdowns on 149 carries this year. He and Knighten make up much of the run game, with Johnston White (six touchdowns) contributing to the cause. With a focus on the run game, the Red Wolves havent had many breakout players through the air this season. Tres Houston leads the team with 51 receptions, for 607 yards and three touchdowns. Dijon Paschal tops the squad with 642 yards and four receiving scores. We installed the game plan before we left (for Christmas break), and were going back through it again, said Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson. As much as anything, were just trying to get readjusted. You can tell the guys were focused in meetings, and theyve got a healthy respect for our opponent. Theyve watched enough tape to know that Toledo is a good football team, so I think they are prepared in that sense. Defensively, the Red Wolves may find it difficult to slow down a strong Toledo run game. Arkansas State is allowing opponents to gain 191.9 rushing ypg this season, and has surrendered 27 touchdowns on the ground in 12 games played. Overall, the Red Wolves are giving up 27.8 ppg to opponents, and hasnt held a challenger to fewer than 35 points in each of the teams last three games. Linebacker Qushaun Lee enters the bowl game leading his team in tackles, having registered 96 stops this season. But Lees stat line goes beyond the tackles, as hes also recorded seven tackles for loss, four interceptions and two forced fumbles. Defensive end/linebacker JaVon Rolland-Jones tops the Red Wolves with 12 tackles for loss and eight sacks in 2014, but hes missed the last two games with a knee injury. He will not suit up for the GoDaddy Bowl. Defensive back Artez Brown (four interceptions, five pass breakups) will likely lock onto either Russell or Jones in an attempt to defend the pass. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '
